Remembering Our Purpose

The church is God’s vehicle to change the world. It’s His vehicle to stand up to the evils that enslave and enforce others, and its members are those who are called to lay down their lives for the Kingdom of God.

In all the political and emotional turmoil as of late, it’s important to be reminded of what our mission as the church truly is. It’s easy to lose sight of the purpose Jesus gave us and the work He’s invited us to partner in.

Encouragement is Timely

I’ve often found that encouragement comes when you least expect it…and when you most need it. This has certainly been true for me lately. But how exactly does encouragement come our way?

Some will bemoan the whole “Everything happens for a reason” bit. Others might be more prone to say life is just a cycle of serendipitous encounters or random and wonderful coincidences.

I’m not sure where I fall on the continuum, but it seems to me that since God is alive and active and in close proximity to us, we should pay attention to those nearly inexplicable encouraging moments. Because perhaps He’s trying to get our attention.

When Things Go Wrong

Last week we had one of those nights where everything we’d planned fell apart. Have you been there? First, it was the computer acting up. Then it was the projector. We tried various solutions to fix the problem, but we were at a loss.

Night like this are always frustrating. We try our best, but then end up surrendering to the reality that we can’t fix the issue. It made me think about life and what we do when things go wrong.

Uncertainty Is Part Of The Game

I don’t know about you, but I struggle a bit with decision making. Oftentimes, I search for affirmation and guidance whilst navigating the changing waters of life. And the bigger the decision, the more desperately I seek out help and support.

This has plagued me for most of my life and I find myself wondering if I’m truly making the right decision. Because, frankly, sometimes there are multiple right decisions. I’m learning that perhaps it’s not about making the “right” decision, but leaning into the one we feel led to. And sometimes that means embracing uncertainty.
